Structured record of what changed and when, one immutable dated event per line with provenance (PR# / commit SHA). Events carry a surface key — the five authorable surfaces SCHEMA / DEPLOY / PRODUCT / WORKFLOW / FIX (captured as CHANGELOG-<SURFACE>: <one line> in PR bodies and commit-message trailers; grammar reference: repo-root AGENTS.md §6), plus generator-only REGISTER events harvested from decision-file mutations.

The log records events, never state — current state stays with platform-context, the decision register, and the generated types. Shards and this index are generated by bun run changelog:generate; hand edits are overwritten. Taxonomy home: reference/ (S504 four-way ruling).
