Canonical
A knowledge base platform built for AI consumption.
The five spaces
Section titled “The five spaces”Canonical’s docs surface organises itself across five spaces. Each space answers a distinct question.
- Product functionality — what does Canonical do? Per-feature behavioural docs.
- Ontology — what is the Canonical data model? Taxonomy, cardinality, entity types.
- Reference — what are the authoritative facts? Schema, AI policy, skill routing, generated stats.
- Runbooks — how do I operate the platform? CI, local dev, staging refresh, deployments.
- Decisions — why did we choose X? Ratified product and tech specs, ADR-style.
This is the foundation slice (Subtask 9.5). Spaces populate as the remaining ID-9 Subtasks land. Until the build-time sync ships (Subtask 9.6), spaces show placeholders only.
